Rona & Greg's Wedding

I had the pleasure of making the cake and cupcake tower for my friend's Rona and Greg's wedding this weekend. It was held at Glen Echo Park here in the DC area. What a fun location! It is so rich with history and has that vintage feel. Little fun fact: Glen Echo was built in 1891 and was the premier amusement parks in the DC area until the late 1960s. The wedding itself was held in the "Bumper Car Pavilion."

(I love seeing old pictures from past history)

The Bumper Car Pavilion today!

The cake and cupcakes were simple and fun. The cake was a basic yellow cake with amaretto ganache while the cupcakes included red velvet and a toasted s'mores cupcakes (a fun cupcake for the fall weather!).

The wonderful beautiful bride and groom

And last, I made a groom's cupcake with the old school Redskin's "R." I am not a skin's fan, but I'll do what I gotta do for my friends ;-) Congrats to Rona and Greg!! I had such a great time and thank you for letting me be apart of your special day.

A Phanatic 30th Birthday

I celebrated two birthday's this weekend - my friend an her husband. Though we celebrated both, it was mainly for her husband who turned 30th this week. They're originally from the Philly area, so I went with a Philly sports theme - specifically baseball (GO PHILLIES!). We actually became friends with our love of Philly sports so it was perfect. I looked around for ideas and decided on making the Phillies' team mascot: The Phanatic.

Isn't he cute?! I haven't seen anyone make him in cupcake form before so I came up with the design on my own. How did I do?? lol.... I complimented them with baseballs, hot dogs, and pretzels :)

And here is the finished results:
It was another fun cupcake weekend. I'll be posting a Phanatic tutorial this week!

Happy Birthday Ken!!! & Ashley too :)

A Coach's Birthday

I made these birthday cupcakes for a woman, whose husband is a baseball coach for their son's team. It was a surprise party and he had no idea! I hope it went well :) (I did hear kids were eating the cupcakes by the hand full *lol*)

Jenn and Dawson's Engagement Party

One of my good friends from college recently got engaged. They celebrated their engagement tonight and my gift to them was cupcakes :-) She only told me to use blue and purple, and this is what I came up with.

Even though this didn't match the decor exactly, I wanted to use my cute little bumble bees again. Ended up putting them on the top tier. (I also bought this new cake plate at home goods today too, which i loooove ;-)

Congrats Jenn and Dawson

"Sweetness is my Weakness"

So excited about my two great purchases this weekend!

I went to the Japanese Street Festival in DC and picked up a new cupcake t-shirt from one of the vendors there:
Speaking of Japanese things, I also picked up some Matcha powder from a Japanese market near my work. I plan to make some green tea cupcakes when I get a chance :)

And finally, I purchased a nice cupcake tower. I wanted to make my own, but I just have nooooo time :-( But I think this one is good quality and will definitely be put to good use! Hoping it gets here in time before next weekend so I can use if for the wedding :-)

Gonna be a busy week of cakes and cupcakes. Due by this Saturday: 2 tier birthday cake w/ matching cupcakes, engagement party cupcakes, and a birthday order of cupcakes!!
